Pressure Point Therapy & Foam Rolling / Wellness Education Series @ Ridgefield Recreation Center

This interactive and hands-on workshop, presented by  Dr. Christopher Mascetta, DC, CCSP, will discuss the fundamentals of Pressure Point and Foam Roller Therapies.  You will learn what pressure points are and how and why they develop. You will also learn how to locate a pressure point, as well as techniques for treating them including a portion on foam rollers.  Dr. Mascetta will provide a half hour power point presentation followed by a hands-on workshop to help demonstrate the skills that you have learned and how to utilize them at home.

 

This seminar is part of the Wellness Education Series and is free for Recreation Center members and $10 for non-members.  Click here to register.

Water Safety Instructor Course Deadline (ages 16+)
Feb 23 @ 6:00 am – 10:00 pm

This course provides candidates with the training that they need to plan and conduct courses within the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety guidelines.  The curriculum covers teaching progressions, lesson planning, recognizing common skill errors, and providing corrective feedback.  Through video and hands-on skill building, the course features clearly described and applied teaching strategies.  Upon successful completion of all activities and written exams, students will receive an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate.  There is a physical pre-course skills test which takes place in the pool and must be passed in order to take the course.  Please see below for a list of skills needed for the pre-course test.

$323 members, $353 non-members (8 classes)

Rates include a $150 nonrefundable deposit in the event that a participant does not pass the pre-course and is ineligible for the training program.

Free Rainforest Rendezvous @ Ridgefield Recreation Center

Join Animal Embassy on a journey through the four major tropical rainforest regions of the world. Participants will meet Animal Ambassadors such as a chinchilla, a jungle carpet python, a red-foot tortoise, red-eyed tree frogs, a large green iguana or Solomon Islands monkey-tailed skink and possibly an eclectus parrot.
