    1. Bone Density Screening/Wellness Education Series

      Let’s face it, none of us are getting any younger.  Ten million Americans are estimated to have osteoporosis – a health problem that makes your bones thin, weak, and more likely to break.  You can find out if you are at risk by taking a simple and painless test to measure bone loss.  Ridgefield Parks & Recreation in collaboration with Physicians Health & Injury Center is offering a Bone Density Screening.  This event is part of the Wellness Education Series and is free for Recreation Center members and $10 for non-members.

    1. Haunted Halloween Hayride @ Ballard Park

      Bring your whole family to the Annual Halloween Haunted Hayride at Ballard Park.  This free event sponsored by Ridgefield Parks & Recreation will scare and delight people of all ages.

    1. Halloween Window Painting
      10:00 am – 2:00 pm

      Calling all middle school and high school students!  Come and share your artistic talents at our annual Halloween Window Painting.  Sign up as a team or as an individual to paint the storefront windows on Main Street.  This event is cosponsored by Ridgefield Parks & Recreation and the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce.  We’ll supply the paint (water based tempura) and you supply the creativity.  If inclement weather, the event will be postponed until Sunday, October 19 (12:00-4:00 pm). 


      The deadline to register is October 11.  To register, please see the front desk at the Recreation Center.

    1. Community CPR/AED Certification Course (ages 13+)
      10:00 am – 2:00 pm

      Students taking this one-day class will be taught to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing emergencies.  Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for CPR/AED (adult, child, and infant) which is valid for two years.

    1. Free Destination Wellness @ Ridgefield Recreation Center
      1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      Ridgefield Parks & Recreation has teamed up with The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce Health & Wellness Council and The Ridgefield Prevention Council to present Destination Wellness on Saturday, October 25 (1:00-5:00 pm) at the Recreation Center.  It’s a celebration of healthy living with free and fun activities for the whole family.  There will be fabulous prizes and giveaways galore for attendees!  The day will include featured speakers in the areas of injury prevention for athletes, stress management for students/adults/patients, addiction and recovery, alcohol and drug abuse prevention, diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer’s prevention, and lyme disease prevention.  This fun day will also include:

      • Academic Stress Management Workshop

      Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association offers free blood pressure screenings on the 4th Monday of every month (2:00-3:00 pm) in the lobby of the Recreation Center.
